OPEN HOUSE at
Swing Centro
( Click any photo to see a larger version )
This was our fourth and biggest yet week of Swing Centro,
Tampa's exciting new Thursday swing night at Centro Asturiano
(located on the edge of Ybor City). People arriving just couldn't
help posing for photos with doorman Steve's 1941 Plymouth.
Sam & Allison showed the newcomers how to swing it in the dance lesson,
then DJ Paul Mallett took it away for dancing excitement
that lasted all the way to midnight! Between 200-300 people came
to check out the new night, including many old friends and many first-timers.
The overwhelming reaction was that Centro Asturiano was an incredible place with an
awesome retro vibe. Everyone told us they had a really fun time, and that they
would be back for more Thursday swing nights! Bob & Sue came to celebrate their
5th Anniversary (for those who don't know, Bob Sutter was instrumental years
back in helping get the Centro Asturiano dances started and in helping get an
organization called the Swing Gang started). Even the bartenders joined
in the fun! Overall, the evening was very exciting, and we look forward
to hosting many more! Enjoy the photos. --Sam
